Hua Hin
Hua Hin is located approx. 190km south of Bangkok and 92 kilometres north of Prachuab Khiri Khan, its provincial chief town and it is a coastal, well known resort town, set on the west coast of the Gulf of Thailand. Hua Hin has a population of around 60,000 people and the King of Thailand has his summer palace - Klai Kang Won (Far from Worries) - adjoining the beach.
Hua Hin has one of the lowest rainfalls in Thailand and being a coastal town gets that lovely sea breeze, so can be visited all year round. There are three seasons, the dry season (March-September), the rainy season (October - November) and the warm season (November-February). Weather is hot but refreshed by a cooling sea breeze. Most days offer clear blue skies and sometimes billowing white clouds. Hua Hin was chosen as the Royal resort due to the excellent weather and climate.
Among the most important landmark is the Klai Kang Won Palace, a royal summer residence built by King Rama VII. The major nightlife attractions which are very popular with both Thai and foreign tourists are the night markets, offering a wide choice of restaurants, stylish shops and boutiques. There are also many old style and art shops close to the fishing piers.
The main beach area fronts the town itself where many fine resorts are found. The beaches at Khao Takiab (Chopsticks Hill) and Takiab Bay (Chopsticks Bay) are just to the south of the town centre. Hua Hin beaches stretch along the coast both north and south.
For outdoor fun and adventure you can enjoy watersports, elephant rides, all-terrain vehicle rides, fishing and boat trips. The beach areas are also popular for jogging and beach cycling. The area also offers the opportunity to visit the temples of Khao Takiab, where you can feed the monkeys, climb to the viewpoint and explore the many temples.
The River Kwai is just 3 hours from Hua Hin and The National Park at Sam Roi Yot (Three Hundred Peaks) is just 30 minutes south of the town.
Koh Chang
Koh Chang, Thailand's second largest island, is a beautiful, unspoilt tropical retreat teeming with brightly coloured flora and fauna and home to rare and exotic wildlife species. The lush jungle covered mountains form the perfect backdrop to some of Thailands most beautiful bays and beaches.
The combination of its natural beauty and greatly improved infrastructure are attracting increasing numbers of property investors who are keen to relax and soak up the tranquil atmosphere, whilst enjoying a generous capital appreciation at the beginning of the Koh Chang boom years.
Koh Chang is some 25 years behind Phuket and 15 years behind Koh Samui in terms of development and given that almost 80% of the island is national park land, development will be limited and exclusivity ensured.
Despite Koh Changs reputation as a peaceful, tropical paradise it boasts a plentiful range of entertainments from watersports and trekking during the day to gastronomic delights in the evening. The nightlife in Koh Chang is also vibrant and varied and caters for the discerning foreign visitor.
Koh Samui
Koh Samui has emerged as one of Asias most enticing island resorts. The former backpackers paradise has remarketed itself as the luxury destination of choice for the discerning holidaymaker as the lure of turquoise waters and ashen sandy beaches attracts an ever increasing number of tourists.
International property developers have been quick to descend on Koh Samui over the past couple of decades with the promise of generous returns on this third largest island in Thailand. With greatly improved infrastructure, an abundant supply of secluded bays and beaches, a renowned entertainment and nightlife scene and an exceptional range of restaurants, it is small wonder that foreigners continue to choose this island as the perfect location for a second home or investment opportunity.
Despite its popularity, much of the island is still unspoilt and undeveloped meaning that visitors can explore the rich forested landscape punctuated by bright bursts of colour, tranquil streams and hidden waterfalls.
Pattaya
Pattaya is perhaps most famous for its bustling and spirited nightlife, a mix of late night pool bars, colourful shows (many of which are not for the faint-hearted!), pubs, clubs and a huge choice of excellent eateries. Nor is the entertainment confined to the evenings: during the day Pattaya offers possibly the widest range of watersports and diving excursions available anywhere in Thailand as well as horse riding, karting, kitesurfing, bungee jumping and shooting.
Located 150km southeast of Bangkok, Pattaya is still an incredibly good value resort which caters for the every whim of its visitors. Value for money also extends into the property market where villas and condos can be snapped up for a fraction of the price you would consider paying in Europe.
If you are looking for fun and adventure on a budget and to invest in property in an area which has proved its popularity to foreigners over the past few decades then Pattaya should be at the very top of your list of places to consider.
Phuket
Phuket is Thailands largest island and most popular tourist destination. The combination of chic sophistication, peaceful tranquility, tropical climate, outstanding white sandy beaches, world class cuisine and hospitality and the abundance of entertainment, from every conceivable watersport through to an unparalleled and varied nightlife make Phuket one of the very best destinations for any investor in search of the ultimate lifestyle retreat.
With a rich array of international facilities including schools, hospitals, 5 star hotels and resorts, world class golf courses and boutique shopping malls it is hardly surprising that Phuket has become the number one choice in Southeast Asia for international businessmen and women who enjoy luxury at a fraction of the costs associated with resorts in the western world. Owners of property in Phuket have a enjoyed capital appreciation of in excess of 15% per annum over the past 5 years and enquiries in the rental market are also on the increase.
