Morocco

The kingdom of Morocco is the most westerly of the North African countries with a coast on the Atlantic Ocean that reaches past the Strait of Gibraltar into the Mediterranean Sea and international borders with Algeria to the east and Spain to the North. It has a population of around 33,000,000 people. Through its long history it has developed a rich culture blended from Arab, Berber, European and African influences. Rabat is Morocco’s capital though Casablanca is its largest city.

The climate is largely Mediterranean and generally Morocco remains quite dry for most of the year. You can expect a little bit of rain between November and March. During the early summer months, you'll be guaranteed warm days and pleasantly cool nights and will more than likely experience no rain.

Morocco boasts many fabulous unspoiled beaches, long stretches of golden and sometimes deserted sands where you can relax and dream in peace. Cabo Negro is one such coastal resort situated in an attractive area, well maintained with sleepy streets, green & fertile gardens and spectacular beaches. This resort is also home to the region’s oldest golf course, the “Royal Cabo Negro” often frequented by the Moroccan royal family, including the King’s brother and aunt. Water supplies are plentiful with fresh water springs feeding down from the mountains offering clean supplies for drinking, sanitation and irrigation.

Though Morocco is developing very quickly into a modern country, which means that large Tesco style supermarkets are located in most major towns you can still enjoy the hustle and bustle of the traditional medina where it is expected for you to haggle over every last dirham for the best possible bargain on fresh fish, succulent fruit or vegetables, pottery, furniture, clothes or shoes. You will find Moroccans are a naturally warm, friendly and hospitable race who will go to great lengths to entertain you with lavish and colourful feasts when you become friends and are invited to dinner.

The present King is actively encouraging international tourists and foreign investment. It is now possible to purchase low-cost flights to Marrakesh with a new route to Tangier opening shortly and a further 20 new routes by 2010. The governments of Spain and Morocco have recently confirmed their intention to build a tunnel between North Africa and Europe further adding to the accessibility of Morocco.
